Ok so I haven’t exactly gone back to school. ‘Ain’t nobody go time for that’. Lets face the facts. I’ve got a threenager in the house who is pulling on the major attitude of late and I’m still (yay!) breastfeeding our almost 9month old (second child..I should have just said almost one year old) SOOOOO I’’ve not got a lot of spare time. That and I’m also running two businesses as well as trying to keep my husband happy.
But I have come back off maternity leave with a fire cracker up my ass if you will. I feel like I have done the family thing, now it is time to move onto some more goals. Don’t get me wrong…I’ll still take care of the little buggers. In doing so I know my little business needs to expand. I’m not exactly sure how just yet. But I want growth, and I’m willing to work for it. So I have got all these ideas in my head about what I want to do.
How lucky are we to have Google? I mean, I can’t even remember what life was like before we had Google! (Now I sound like an ‘old person’) I had a teacher at high school; she knew Google was going to be big. We used to laugh at her cracking on about it. Good on you Mrs Roberts, you knew what was what…evidently.
Now huh hummm my school days were…lets just say quite a while ago now that I think of it. But you never forget do you? I often thought while I was at school, is this EVER going to come in handy in my adult life? And hey, not all of it did. But I picked up some skills if you will. Like researching. And that’s what I’m doing…in my ‘me time’…researching. I am thinking of it as ‘fun’ when I guess its actually work. But I guess, when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. I know there are a lot of you out there don’t enjoy your job, and it is just something that you have to do to pay the bills. I’m one of the lucky ones who’s got an awesome job, and what makes it awesome is all of you out there, my clients. I have seriously got the best clients ever. I mostly love going to work to see them all and catch up with them…I mean work very hard.
I remember laughing to myself when my school peers were off to their class for ‘business management’. They had these enormous essays that they had to write about stuff that didn’t interest me. And off I was to cooking. See that was a skill that I could use I thought. And I do….every. single. Day. Sigh. But in hindsight, yeah I can cook a sponge…ok so maybe I didn’t quite master that skill at school. But I probably should have taken that class now that I think of it!
Times are changing so fast, and with all the technology around us, and social media right in our face (although not in my face as much as id like) the way forward with business is changing every day. The only way to keep up to date with it all is to research. If not you fall off the wagon and get left behind.
Take this blog for instance. I never thought I would be ‘webloging’ (see that right there? Learnt that last night!) in my lifetime. Blogging to me was for someone else, but not little old me. And here I am…praying that someone is actually reading this!
So I will continue on with my blog posts when I can. But I have lots of stuff going on in the background (I know, eye roll, I do the same when I see businesses saying the same thing) hopefully you will start seeing some results of my hard work popping up on your screens sometime soon!
So here I am, Googling everything. In that one hour between the kids going to bed and dream feed time. Sometimes I get so enthralled in what I am doing that time slips away and two hours have passed. Ok so I guess the correct term is actually ‘reaserch’. I was sitting there reading up on word press the other day to better understand that. I was in the middle of all this stuff, which makes no sense to me and I thought, oh geez I feel like I’m studying material before I have to write an essay on it for school
