It is time to update the family portrait at long last is it? Taken some time to convince your partner to say cheese in front of a camera? I’ve heard it all before, and believe it or not, the same thing happens to me too!
I am not about making people feel uncomfortable or looking silly. You can rest assured that none of that is going to happen. Actually, I might look silly at some stage to try and get your kids to look at me and or smile.
I take an easygoing approach to most things in life. I’ve photographed a lot of people from all walks of life in the past and nothing really phases me anymore.
Once you get in touch with me and book at date and time, the hardest part is usually over! You can decide where you would like to have your family photos taken. Think of something that is going to really talk to you and your family. It might be in the paddock full of long grass with your horses in the back ground, it might be in the local café that you all hang out in every other Sunday for brunch it might be that beach which holds a special place in your heart and will forever.
Once we have decided on a location, I will advise the time according to the weather and time of year it is. I will also factor in the best time of day for your kids too.
I know you are wondering what you can all wear. This is totally up to you. Imagine this portrait on your wall in 10-15years time. Is that cut of shirt you are choosing going to date? (think of mums puffy wedding dress sleeves and the amount of eye rolls it gets!) try to chose something a little classic. White shirts and denim, a similar hue of colours. Bright colours stand out in a dull hue such as the beach for example. I am more than happy to discuss this further with you if it is something that you are having trouble deciding on.
If you have chosen a mini session then this will go for about 20mins. These sessions are best of small children etc. I will go hard and shoot as much as I possibly can in this amount of time.
If you have chosen a full shoot then they got for around an hour. If one of your children cracks a massive tantrum during the shoot, I am not going to be clocking off after one hour if we haven’t got all the shots that you wanted to get. That is not how I work.
Once we have had the photo shoot and it is all done and dusted, I will be in touch again within 2-4 weeks with your images. These will be a selection of the very best photos from the shoot. There will be anywhere from 30-50 shots depending on how much variety we were able to achieve on the day of the shoot.
If you have any other questions, which I haven’t covered here or in the FAQ, then please ask away! I don’t mind at all.
